2024 LHSAA Softball Power Ranking

As the 2024 LHSAA softball season heats up, fans and teams watch The Power Rankings(TPR). The ranks are crucial for assessing team health and strength based on wins, losses, and opponent scheduling. We will discuss the LHSAA softball power rankings and what these numbers mean for the rest of the season.

Top Teams Leading the Pack

Dutchtown at first rank in the LHSAA softball power rankings. Their record is 21-6, which means they’ve won 21 times and lost 6 times. Their Power Rating (P.R.) of 33.5556 is good, which means they’ve always done well on the pitch. Others who are also trying to get to the top have judged them based on how well they’ve done this season.

With a PR of 32.1154 and a score of 19–7, Southside is in a close second place. Not as Southside has won as many games as some of its rivals. But the fact that it often beats tough teams has kept it in the game and earned it a lot of respect.

St. Amant rounds out the top three with 21 wins and a PR of 32.0000. Although they have the same number of wins as Dutchtown, they rank lower than Dutchtown because they have lost more games than they have won.

Key Contenders in the Top 10

The top three aren’t the last ones in the race for first place. Ponchatoula (PR: 31.0172) and West Monroe (PR: 30.5333), the following two teams, have also done very well this season. These teams have shown they can play well, so as the playoffs get closer, they are important to watch.

Three other strong teams in the top 10 are Sam Houston, West Ouachita, and Live Oak. They all have P.R.s above 29. These groups have done well all season, which makes them ready to play in the playoffs.

Destrehan stands out from the others. They have 24 wins, the most in the top 10, and they are in ninth place with a PR of 29.7581. This shows that The Power Rankings(TPR) aren’t based on wins; the power of the schedule and the quality of the opponents are also very important.

Mid-Ranked Teams Battling for Playoff Spots

Natchitoches Central (PR: 29.3333) and East Ascension (PR: 29.2333) are two outstanding teams in the middle of the league. Both of these teams have had a good season, but they will have to beat middle-tier teams like Slidell, Central—B.R., and Chalmette to make the playoffs.

Teams like Airline and Hahnville are in the bottom twenty as we go down the list. Even though their Power Ratings are around 28, these teams can still make the playoffs. They need to have a good end to the season.

Struggling Teams and the Fight to Stay Competitive

Teams are at the bottom of the LHSAA Softball Power Rankings every season. It is hard for teams like Ouachita Parish, New Iberia, and Thibodaux when their P.R.s are under 25. Of course, these teams must do more than make the playoffs. They need to get better and set themselves up for the future.

At the bottom of the list are East St. John (PR: 13.9444) and Salmen (PR: 11.611). It’s tough for these teams because they only have a few wins. But, they still play a big role in the LHSAA’s fierce spirit.

What the Rankings Mean for the Playoffs

The LHSAA softball power rankings will be very important in deciding the final place as the season progresses. A lot of power means a team will likely do well in the playoffs.
