The MIAA power rankings for Spring 2024 are here! This is an exciting time for sports fans, especially those who watch teams from the Greater Taunton area. Everything is on the line for the top 32 teams in each group as they try to make it to the tournament. Even teams not ranked in the top 32 but with a record of 500 or more can still play in the event for their group. This makes it even more competitive.

Let’s examine the local teams’ standings based on the most recent season of The Power Rankings (TPR). 

Baseball Rankings:

  • Division 1: Taunton is well-positioned at rank 5, ensuring a tournament spot. Unfortunately, Bridgewater-Raynham is 41, which puts it outside the top 32.
  • Division 2: Bristol-Plymouth is also outside the qualifying range at 44.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth cuts, ranking 31 and looking to qualify for the postseason.

Softball Rankings:

  • Division 1: Taunton continues to do well, placing 11th, and Bridgewater-Raynham is right behind it at 24th. It looks like both sides will make it to the tournament.
  • Division 2: Bristol-Plymouth is 44th out of the top 32 but, based on its record, is poised to make the tournament.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth is the top team in its division, holding the number one spot in The Power Rankings (TPR).

Boys Lacrosse:

  • Division 1: Taunton finds itself just outside the top 32, ranked 39.
  • Division 2: Bridgewater-Raynham, with a strong showing, is ranked 11 and ready to compete, while Bristol-Plymouth is at 46.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth, ranked 44, is currently out of the qualifying range.

Girls Lacrosse:

  • Division 1: Bridgewater-Raynham holds a qualifying spot at 29, while Taunton falls short at 40.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth is just within the qualifying range at 34, while Bristol-Plymouth lags at 59.

Boys Tennis:

  • Division 1: Taunton ranks 50, outside of the top 32.
  • Division 2: Bridgewater-Raynham also misses the cut, sitting at 37.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth looks strong, coming in at 8 and qualifying for the tournament.

Girls Tennis:

  • Division 1: Taunton ranks 22, securing a spot, while Bridgewater-Raynham ranks 34, just on the edge of qualification.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth falls short, ranking 53.

Boys Volleyball:

  • Division 1: Taunton is ranked 49 and out of the qualifying range.
  • Division 3: Dighton-Rehoboth, yet, ranks 24, putting them in a favorable position for the tournament.

What’s Next for Greater Taunton Teams?

With these MIAA power rankings in mind, many teams from the Greater Taunton area are well on their way to making the playoffs. According to the rankings, spring sports are very competitive. For many teams, every game from now on will be very important for keeping or moving up in The Power Rankings (TPR).

Taunton is doing well in baseball and softball, and Dighton-Rehoboth is doing well in softball and boys’ tennis. These teams should be watched as the season comes to a close. There is still hope for teams that aren’t in the top 32. If they played well and had a record of 500 or better, they could get into the tournaments for their class and make a name for themselves.
